Sebastian Diezig is a specialist for:
Virtuosic Solo Recitals
Sebastian Diezig's vision is that one day the cello will be as popular as a solo-recital-instrument as the piano is today because of the truly amazing possibilites of this instrument that rival the piano: The reach is from low basses up to the coloraturas, polyphony is no problem, wonderful singing cantilenas can be done in a way no piano will ever be able to do, fast virtuosity as well, plucking the strings ("pizzicato") and ponticello technique allow even more variety and the rich repertoire is a treat. Concert managers like to book Diezig for tricky solo cello repertoire. With his natural musicality, virtuoso technique, communicative stage presence and excellent memory, Diezig is able to play the most complex solo literature convincingly and by heart. He gives casual and easily understandable comments on the music from Bach to Veress so that every listener gets an idea of what's going on. Possible repertoire includes Bach, Veress, Kodaly, Carter, Penderecki, Dutilleux, Lutoslawski, Sollima, Britten etc. as well as my own compositions "Top Gun Variations" and "Blues".
Recital cello/piano
Diezig always plays with outstanding pianists and is a guarantee for sonata evenings at the highest level.
Soloist with orchestra
The experience, his open ears for the accompanying musicians behind him, his big sound as well as his highly developed musicality and technique make him an excellent choice for the standard repertoire and also for some rarities like Caplet's Epiphany. Diezig played with renowned orchestras such as the Basel Symphony, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Orchestre de Chambre Fribourgeois and others.
