Biography (in english)

Swiss Cellist Sebastian Diezig is in demand as soloist and chamber musician. He studied with Pierre-Bernard Sudan, Marc Jaermann and concluded his studies in 2008 under the guidance of Thomas Demenga with a brilliant soloist diploma. Diezig is price winner at numerous competitions, most notably the International Cello Competition in Lugano (3rd price) and the International Cello Competition in Zagreb (special price for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece, both in 2008). Since 2010 he has been serving as co-principal cellist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra performing in the prestigious KKL, the Lucerne Theatre and frequently in major music capitals of Europe, Asia and the Americas. As a soloist he has appeared with orchestras such as the Basel Symphony, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Symphonic Ensemble and many others as well as at renowned festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, the Young Artists in Concert Davos, the Sine Nomine Festival Lausanne, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad and others in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria and Luxembourg. Sebastian Diezig composes too: Among his works are the virtuoso solo pieces „Top Gun Variations“ (2012) and „Blues“ (2007) which can be heard on his Youtube Channel. This is also where his most recent recording projects such as the video recording of all the Piatti Caprices and currently the 40 David Popper “High School” Etudes take place. Sebastian Diezig is married to the violinist Paula Novoa.
