Giuliani wrote a very beautiful chamber work here. It’s operatic belcanto with just a violin (Christina Gallati), a guitar (Maria Efstathiou) and a cello (Sebastian Diezig).

During rehearsals we played this piece also at very slow speeds. That’s when I realized that the amount of harmony changes is staggering – Wolf must have been more than just your ordinary workaholic composer.

In this video you can see me as I run through the last movement of the beautiful Dvorak Cello Concerto. I am getting ready for my concert with the Orchestre de la Ville et de l’Université de Fribourg under the baton of Alexandru Ianos on May 5 at 17h in the Aula Magna, Avenue de l’Europe 20, 1700 Fribourg, Switzerland. Still some minor things to fix but I think I will be fine on the great day.

This sonata by Jean-Marie LeClair is a beautiful piece of music and I had the great pleasure to play it with my wife Paula Novoa (violin) and my aunt Silvia Nowak (harpsichord) in a packed church in Blitzingen for our traditional christmas concert. This christmas concert has become a big event over the years and myself as a citizen of Blitzingen am very happy to be able to contribute to the tiny village’s cultural calendar.

This is so far my largest work as a composer. I wrote the piece in 2012.
Inspiration is obviously the great “Top Gun Anthem” that genius composer Harold Faltermeyer composed as the soundtrack for the Hollywood Blockbuster “Top Gun” from which i adapted the original theme to the cello. All the following variations are my own work. I hope Harold Faltermeyer doesn’t mind the use of his “Top Gun Anthem” as the theme for my “Top Gun Variations”. I tried to contact him to know for sure but didn’t get an answer. Please let me know if I violate a copyright and I will take this video down immediately.
